Our Mountain Blast tournament has been renamed to honor one of our own Tuolumne County players, Rylee Munsel, whom we lost in 2022.
Rylee was a lover of softball and has played since she was a young girl. She typically played in an age bracket above her age due to her older sister, McKenzie, playing and their father, Cody, coaching. Rylee’s first taste of higher level fastpitch softball came in the summer of 2021. Rylee and McKenzie played with a newly formed travel softball team named Tuolumne County Crew. The team played in only three tournaments that summer. The team received their very first win at the Sonora Mountain Blast Tournament. This was fitting since it was her hometown.
Fast forward to 2022. TC Crew held tryouts and formed their team. Rylee was the starting first baseman as a true 10u player playing in a 12u league. On April 1, 2022, Rylee was on her way to Magic Mountain in Southern California to celebrate her 11th birthday when she and her family were involved in a vehicle accident on Highway 99 in Fresno. Everyone was severely injured and Rylee was left in a coma. Sadly, on April 19th, Rylee succumbed to her injuries.
Rylee was the sweetest child and a ray of sunshine. Her positive, can-do attitude carried her through life. She outhustled everybody on the field and she truly gave it her all. Rylee is greatly missed within our community and we love her dearly.
We will be giving out scholarships to participating players in memory of Rylee.
